One more year older…wiser?? hmmm… Never understood the diff amp then, nor now..some things never change.. 🙂 Ok, that was a bit of exaggeration. My pay check depends on this.. 🙂 Glad to be seeing this day. Never thought I would see this day a few years ago.It is a big milestone in my life.
Partner took me out on the best date ever. We drove to Greens at SFO. An organic Vegetarian affair. My type of food. On saturday, they have a Prie Fix dinner, a four course menu.
1. Starts with a cheese platter
“Andante Dairy Crottin; cucumber salad with lemon, Italian parsley and mint; olives
Acme pain epi with Straus butter “
My version: A cucumber, mint, parsley salad with olives & goat cheese. Bread was pretty good. Not much to talk about . A regular fare. And, we had to share that plate..
” Roasted pepper with little gems, sweet 100 cherry tomatoes,
spiced pumpkin seeds, cilantro and lime vinaigrette”
The pepper was stuffed with cheese and was Yumm-o .Cherry tomatoes with cilantro tasted very much like our Tomato Chutney, which is a first time for me in any American restaurant. Spiced pumpkin seeds using cilantro also had a chutney flavour. Very unique.
“Grilled Figs and Squash”. Actually, the name was even bigger, unfortunately, I am not able to find it in their web page now.
Suresh did not gobble it in one bite and enjoyed it thoroughly, so much so that he grilled strawberries and figs the next morning for breakfast.
“Provencal squash with roasted onions, Japanese eggplant, peppers,
asiago, pine nuts and basil. Served with early girl tomato sauce,
grilled polenta, summer beans with shallots and pepper flakes. “
This was a plate that I loved. For a change, I finished every bite of all the vegetables on the plate. The polenta was not great , to be frank, but all the rest was yummy.
“Spinach ravioli with chanterelle mushrooms, sweet 100 cherry tomatoes, savoy
spinach, shallots, herb butter and grana padano “.
Suresh usually cleans any plate that is in front of him. This one was no different. Ravioli was cooked perfectly, just right.
I wouldn’t say the desserts were amazing. Very similar to what we get in other fine dine restaurants. They were very tasty though not out of the box, if I may say so.
Roaster Pear with Cream
Pecan Tart with Apple pie icecream.
But, the birthday gift topped it all… 🙂
